Benalmadena on the Costa del Sol is a municipality of the province of Malaga consisting of three main urban areas; Benalmadena Pueblo, Benalmadena Costa and Arroyo de la Miel. The city of Malaga is about 12 km to the west with Marbella 42 km to the East. The area has grown rapidly in recent decades due to tourism and has become one of the Costa del Sol’s prime locations.

Benalmadena Costa is home to the majority of the areas attractions, the foremost of which is probably the golden sandy beaches, which run off into the Mediterranean Sea. There are restaurants and bars to suit all types and tastes and the area retains a relaxed friendly atmosphere all year round.

With such a wide and varied array of activities and things to do, any visitor will be hard pressed to find a moment of boredom when visiting Benalmadena, a town which is truly more than just a resort.

Puerto Marina Benalmadena is one of the most magnificent  ports and residential complexes in the world, with a very attractive architecture and a blue flag distinction for quality.

Puerto Marina’s history began in the 1960’s as a result of the sudden growth in the tourism industry. The construction works of the port began in 1972 and finished 10 years later. Puerto Marina has been named the best Marina in the world on two occasions – 1995 and 1997 – an honour that is awarded by specialist international magazines.

The port also has bars, restaurants, a shopping centre and shops all along its interior promenade that takes us from one end of the port to the other. There is also a large public and private car park. Puerto Marina has become an outstanding leisure area on the Costa del Sol.

 Selwo Marina

Selwo Marina is located at the Parque de la Paloma in Arroyo de la Miel. The park has 4 areas – ‘Antillas’, ‘Las Hondonada’, ‘Amazonia’ and ‘Isla de Hielo’. ‘Antillas’ is where the dolphin and sea lion pools are located. The main large pool is used by both the dolphins and sea lions during shows. ‘Las Hondonada’ is the area in which the Bird and Snake Shows take place. There are also aviaries to view the parrots when they aren’t performing. ‘Amazonia’ is a small indoor area containing tanks of snakes, lizards, fish, caimans and  other species. ‘Isla de Hielo’ translates to ‘Island of Ice’ and is home to their collection of penguins, the first constructed in Andalucia.

Tivoli World is surrounded by beautiful gardens, illuminated fountains and a variety of  restaurants you will find plenty of exciting attractions. It is located at Avenida del Tívoli, Benalmadena and features many exciting rides and a range of entertainment. There is a Western Square, which is a reproduction of a western town, a barbecue, and a show of can-can dancers. There is an Andalusian Square where flamenco dance is featured. The Jungle Square has mimes dressed as wild animals. There is a Show Boat with a pirate show. This amusement park is one of the best in the Costa del Sol.
